The constant policing and abuse of BPoC (Black and People of Color) LGBTIQ+ bodies is on the rise – especially in the wake of ever increasing right-wing populism and politics.
We are convinced that we can face this together – by uniting and by protecting each other. But how do we develop an understanding of allyship and of solidarity? How do we communicate, share resources and information to build a strong network?

Three of us will travel to Nigeria in November, visiting House Linda – a project of Afro Rainbow Nigeria Outreach in memory of OUR LINDA NKECHI LOUIS. House Linda provides shelter and serves as community center for LBTI+ women* in Nigeria.

Since ARA Nigeria Outreach is completely reliant on donations we‘d also appreciate money donations.

Wrestling Religious Homophobia in the African Diaspora

Bist Du LGBTIQ+ und wirst von Herkunftscommunity und Mehrheitsgesellschaft mit offenen Armen empfangen? Wunderbar! Oft ist jedoch das Gegenteil der Fall: In der Diaspora-Community ist das Coming-out fast unmöglich, in der LGBTIQ+-Szene herrscht – wie in der Gesamtgesellschaft –struktureller Rassismus. Dagegen wird in der WIENWOCHE live gekämpft.
Vier Pfeiler mit Seilen mimen den Ring, hier findet das Wrestling statt. Gekämpft wird um eine Gesellschaft ohne Homophobie und Rassismus. In den Ring steigen: die Fearless Freedom Fighters (der christliche Priester Reverend Jide Macaulay, der islamische Gelehrte Ishmael Omumbwa Ondunyi und Henrie Dennis, Gründerin der gastgebenden Organisation AFRO RAINBOW AUSTRIA) gegen die Cunning Conservatives (in Person des Schauspielers Patrick Bongola), genau beobachtet von der Schiedsrichterin Djamila C.A. Grandits.
Diaspora-Communities können Schutz und Empowerment bieten, aber auch repressiv und gewalttätig sein. Zum Beispiel, wenn weite Teile der Community streng religiös und konservativ sind und eines ihrer Mitglieder sein Coming-out wagt. Die performative Diskussionsveranstaltung A Punch Below The Belt richtet sich aber nicht nur an die afrikanische Diaspora. Auch die LGBTIQ+-Szene in Wien muss sich gefallen lassen, auf rassistische Strukturen hin abgeklopft zu werden.
Wenn Homophobie und Rassismus am Ende des Abends mit einem finalen Bear Hug erledigt wurden, wird es ganz im Stil großer Sportveranstaltungen eine live Studioanalyse geben, um das Gehörte und Gesehene zu diskutieren.
